Kraken’s Keep by Jean Kilczer

Ch'kara SilverWolf

I am pleased to bring you another book Kraken’s Keep, by my friend Jean Kilczer.

Description

A routine dive to reinforce bridge columns turns deadly for marine biologist Tess Hoffman and her commercial-diver boyfriend Ryan Culley when they are attacked by
a monstrous underwater creature never before seen.

The quest to study this dangerous deep-sea denizen throws Tess and Culley together with a crew of very different and fascinating characters, from Tess, who has a problem with long-term commitment, to Culley, a hero in disguise and the true leader of this quirky pack: to George, the brilliant scientist and compulsive eater, to Phil, with his harsh military mindset, to Mini, an African-American beauty who towers over the others and has a soft spot for short, pudgy George, to Captain Brad, whose boyfriend, Harley Davidson, back on shore, has a roaming eye for a nice tush, to religious Ramon.

The results…

Works In Progress – Daughter of Ancient Prophecy by Ch’kara SilverWolf

I’ve read one of Ch’Kara’s books, Daughter of Light and Dark. She is a fine writer. I’m sure this work in progress is just as good. Maybe even better.

COVER OF MY WIP

THE SEARCH FOR PROOF OF “E.”

“I need what?” I asked the woman behind the counter of the Driver’s License Dept. when I tried to get a Colorado license. My New Mexico license didn’t have “E”, my middle initial, but my required birth certificate did have the E for Elizabeth, a confirmation name I never used. “Uh, maybe we can scratch out the E?”

She shook her head solemnly. “You’ll need a marriage license.”

“But my husband passed away eighteen years ago and I no longer have one. I can’t even remember the name of the church we got married in.”

“Contact the State of New York.”

I could hold back no longer. “I’m driving around with an expired license. Do you realize how ridiculous this is? I could get a ticket!”

“Yes,” she agreed. “You could.”

On my way home I found my old handicap sticker back in the mail from the Pagosa Springs MVB. “You’ll have to go back to New mexico to renew your handicap sticker,” the letter said.

Round and round.

I was sucked down into a vortex. A sirocco wind forced me through yawning gates. There before me stretched an endless counter manned by leering red devils with horns. “Go to the back of the line!” A devil screamed out fire.

With singed eyebrows I reeled past lines of haggard souls, each one clutching forms.

And so, you blessed people of earth above, before you go head to head with the bureaucracy, make sure there’s a period at the end of form 263. Either that, or Abandon All Hope.!
